MK 03100 - COMPRESSION TESTING MACHINE - Hand Operated - IS : 516

The concrete is a man-made material, essential mixed at site. The properties of concrete depend on the properties of its ingredients and their proportion, and it is likely to vary from mix to mix. Tests must be conducted, therefore, to ensure that the
concrete used is in accordance with design specifications. It is a frequent test of compressive strength, in which concrete
samples are tested to failure.

For Compression test on Concrete or Similar materials, suitable for use on Concrete cubes of any size upto 5cm x 5cm x 5cm,
7.06 x 7.06cm, 10cm x 10cm x 10cm, and 15cm x 15cm x 15cm also on 10 x 20cm and 15 x 30cm high concrete cylinders. The
load is applied through hydraulic assembly.

The lower platen is on the Hydraulic Ram, and upper having a spherical seating is adjustable. The machine is provided with an
air release valve and the load is automatically indicated on the 15cms dia hydraulic pressure calibrated against an N.C.B.M. tested Proving Ring and fitted with a legless max pointer in addition to the ‘live’ pointer.

Tests must be conducted, therefore, to ensure that the concrete used is in accordance with design specifications. It is a frequent test of compressive strength, in which concrete samples are tested to failure.

Compression Testing Machine Electrically Cum Hand Operated. The machine embodies an Hydraulic system designed to meet
the requirement of Indian Standards Specification 516-1959 for compression tests on concrete cubes upto 5cm x 5cm x 5cm, 7.06cm x 7.06cm x 7.06cm, 10cm x 10cm x 10cm and 15cm x 15cm x 15cm and also concrete cylinders upto 10 x 20cm, 15 x 30cm height.

Loading Unit:- The hydraulic jack of is fixed to the base. The upper platen has got a self-aligning action and is attached to a screw, which passes thru the cross-head plate and can be raised or lowered for initial clearance adjustment. The lower platen rests on the jack ram and is positioned with the help of a centering pin. Loading is accomplished by the upward movement of the lower platen. A dust cover is provided on the jack to prevent any dust from going into the cylinder. A spacer with a centering locating pin is provided to test small specimens. The lower and upper platens of the machine are hardened, ground and polished. Guidelines are marked on the lower platen to keep the specimen coaxial with the hydraulic jack.

Pumping Unit : The motorised pumping unit, which is housed in an elegant console is of double plunger type and is driven by a
single phase 220/440 volts 50 cycles electric motor. The pumping unit is a separate unit connected to the jack by means of a Rubber Hose Pipe. A junction box is suitable fixed to connect the motor to the mains through a push button starter.

fitted with a 20cm dia dial hydraulic Pressure Gauge with 100 division i.e. calibrated against N.C.B. Tested proving ring. A max red pointer is provided to facilitate taking readings after failure of the specimen. The machine is fitted with a hand wheel control which enables the rate of application of load to be varied. The machine is equipped with facilities for hand pumping in case of Power Failure.

The electric pumping unit is fixed with a micro-switch off the motor automatically as the load on the machine approaches the rated capacity Relays are incorporated in the pumping unit so that incase of breakdown of power supply. The motor will not re-start unless the starting switch is operated

MK 03120 - CUBE MOULDS : IS : 10086, IS : 516

Concrete cube moulds that are used in the preparation of concrete cube specimens of high strength materials for compression testing. These moulds are employed to examine the strength of portland cement, low heat portland cement and some classes of lime.

MK 03130 - SLUMP TEST APPARATUS : IS : 7320

Base has cleats on its underside to help dig into the ground surface Positive clamping of slump cone to the base while filling and rodding the concrete A combination swivel carrying handle also doubles as the datum making the conventional and somewhat awkward measuring procedure of using a foot rule and a datum bar, a thing of the past

This test is considered suitable for cohesive and plastic mixes of concrete containing aggregate smaller than 50 mm.

The slump cone is filled with freshly mixed concrete and is tamped with a tamping bar in three or four layers. The top of the concrete is leveled off with the top of the slump cone, the cone is lifted vertically up and the slump of the sample is immediately measured.

 

MK 03140 - VIBRATING TABLE : IS : 2514

It is designed to carry a load of 140 kg . The apparatus consists of a motor fitted with a variable pitch pulley housed in a cabinet. The vibrations are imparted by means off-balance masses rotating on a shaft of a vibrator clamped to the underside of the table top. The table top is 50cm x 50cm and has stops along its edges to prevent moulds from walking off the table during vibration . A crass arm adjustable on a vertical rod at the centre of the table is provided to hold the moulds while operating the between a maximum of 3600 vibrations down to 2600 vibration per minute. A speed regulation handle is provided for increasing or decreasing frequency. A switch is provided for starting the motor. Suitable for operator on 440 Volts, A.C. Three Phase, 50 Cycles.

MK 03150 - VIBRATING HAMMER : BS : 1377. 1924

This apparatus provides a method for the compaction of soil samples in the determination of dry density/moisture content relationship, the determination of unconfined compressive strength of stabilized soil and for CBR tests. This also useful for compacting concretespecimen in cube and beam moulds

  • Used for compaction of test specimen. The vibratory Hammer is mounted on two guide rods; one on either side of the hammer. A mounting head is fitted to the vibratory hammer to allow a surcharge of 10kg to be mounted to the vibratory hammer

 

MK 03160 - ACCELERATED CURING TANK

The tank has been designed to accommodate 150mm/70.6mm cube moulds upto 36/72 cube mould and fully insulated, complete with a hinged lid, heater, thermostat and re-circulated pump. Provision of two removable racks allowing free circulation of water around each mould. The pump, drain valves and electrical equipment are housed in a compartment located at one end of the tank. The Tank is heated by a immersion heater under normal conditions and refrigeration system for grey cement the temperature is controlled at 35oC or 100oC ± 2oC / 27oC +2oC , expect for the 15 minutes after immersion of the freshly made specimens.

MK 03170 - LABORATORY CONCRETE MIXER

The Mixer is used for preparing Mix Design of Concrete. It consists of a steel vessel of 55/ 110 Litres capacity, mounted on a frame. The vessel is rotated at 20-22 RPM with the help of a motor and a pulley arrangement. The vessel can be titled to any angle by a hand wheel and counter weight. This facilitates mixing and discharge. Blades are provided inside the vessel to mix the material thoroughly. The large pulley wheel facilitates manual rotation of the drum during power failure. The drum, pulley wheel, and motor, etc, are mounted on a steel frame.

The Machine is fitted with ½ HP motor. Suitable for Operation on 220V, Single Phase, 50Hz, AC Supply

 

MK 03180 - CONCRETE PERMEABILITY APPARATUS : IS : 3085

The design of concrete mix is aimed at maximum durability for the conditions where it is to be used. Ability to resist the flow of water through is one of the important durability characteristics. The permeability is determined on cement mortar and concrete specimens, either cast in the laboratory or obtained by cutting out cores from existing structures. The Permeability test is carried out as per the standard, IS:3085 and US Bureau of Reclamation, specifications.

High Pressure Permeability Test can be conducted on different size specimens using different cells. Each cell is made of steel and provided with a top plate and funnel at the bottom having gasket seals held in position through bolts and nuts. The concrete specimens are sealed in the cell to prevent any leakage along the side walls. The permeated water is collected in glass bottles attached at the bottom. Each test stall has its own control system, operating pressure gauges and valves. The pressure sight glass tubes are fully protected by a shatter proof panel The multi-unit per-meameters are so designed that all tests can be performed at the same time, using either the same head or varying head pressure, as each test stall is provided with its own pressure regulator and control. The control instruments are mounted on a sturdy welded structural stand. All multi-units are provided with end pressure gauges. Each unit is provided with chamber pressure gauges of 0-20 kg/cm2 and test pressure gauges of 0-15 kg/cm2. Pressures are applied using any available pressure line at the site or a compressor.

MK 03190 - COMPACTION FACTOR APPARATUS : IS : 1199, 5515

A useful tool for workability determination of concrete mixes of very low workability such as those normally used with Concrete, compacted by Vibration. Concrete mix having maximum size of aggregate exceeding 38 mm can be tested for workability. Apparatus is complete with hoppers and receiver assembly.

It consists of two rigid conical hoppers and a cylinder mounted on a rigid metal frame. The lower openings of the hoppers are fitted with hinged trapdoors having a quick release catches. A circular metal plate is provided to cover the top of the cylinder. Supplied complete with one plaster's trowel and one tamping rod, 16mm dia x 600mm long, both ends rounded.
